Hello from Victoria Canada

A quick intro, I was diagnosed with PTSD after an assault at work, through on going therapy I have come to find out I have been living with CPTSD my whole life. And WOW it has brought up a lot as I try to unravel and find my true self.

I use writing as way to understand and work through all this. Attached is a recent writing exercise I did, at 60 I am    looking for work and sending out resumes with very little luck, So I decided to write a more tongue and cheek honest one.

As I go through the forums I hope to make some connections and learn from you all.

Cheers

Welcome. I'm so sorry you had an assault at work and developed PTSD. I'm glad you got therapy although of course your discovery of the CPTSD must have been a huge shock.

I look forward to reading your piece once the attachment is approved. This is standard practice for all attachments in posts here.

Thanks NarcKiddo,

I'm looking forward to being part of this community and exploring the forums and making some connections. The CPTSD was a surprise but as I've learned more about it, it explains a lot of my history.

Hi and a warm welcome to Out of the Storm Derryl.  :heythere:

I loved your resume, it's not that often that someone new to having CPTSD has a sense of humour about it! I know there's pain too but really, thank you for the chuckle and I hope you find being here helpful.

NarcKiddo

Your resume is absolutely glorious! I never thought I would enjoy reading about someone else's CPTSD experience and actually laugh in the process. Nicely done. And I do hope you find a suitable position soon.

Derryl

Thank you Kizzie and Narckiddo for giving it a read. I'm happy you found it funny and it gave you both a few chuckles. It was a cathartic to write it.

I am happy to have found this community. My therapist has told me that to work through some of my triggers is all about practicing. This seems to be a safe place to practice and share by being vulnerable and real.

Writing has been a way for me to get in touch and understand my feelings and emotions.

As many of you can probably empathize with, We can get lost in a fog very easily, being triggered and not fully understanding the source or reason. I've spent a lifetime trying to figure this out. Searching for an event in my past where I can point to and say OH! that's why I'm the way that I am, and I'm not all that damaged or bad.

I just know emotionally and physically, I'm at a point where I can't fake it or just push my way through it anymore, My body won't let me, and I'm learning to listen to those body cues, and go gently and let the mind catch up later.
