Hi all,

I developed CPTSD after being adopted. My birth parents realized they couldn't care for me and that they were hurting me, so they reached out to protective services. Within a week I was placed in one family's home. That didn't work out for whatever reason, and then I was placed in my adoptive family's home. All of this took place in the first month of my life.

As a young adult now, I am happily married and generally doing OK. I've always struggled with my mental health and I have been in therapy for years, but recently I have decided to start working on my attachment and fear of abandonment in more depth. I also want to understand how my neurodivergence affects all of this.

I'm hoping to find support from others who get it. Thanks for reading :)

Hi minelavender,

Welcome to Out of the Storm.  Working on attachment and fear of abandonment sounds like a really good goal.  I might have to remember that for myself later on.  I'm only a little over 2 months into therapy myself, and still have a bit to learn.

I've found this forum to be a great help.  I hope you find the support you're looking for here.

Welcome minelavender :heythere:

I'm very late to the welcome party, but glad you found us.

Attachment and fear of abandonment are big parts of my own healing journey too, so that part of your introduction especially resonated with me.

I hope you find plenty of people here who get it.  :grouphug:
