in celebration of this important day, i'd like to show my appreciation for anyone who acknowledges today or who participates in any related activity.  it's a big deal here in the States, and, altho i've been aware of this day and its celebration for a long time - i once took my girls to a Juneteenth block party when they were young, not really knowing the total background of the enormity of the day, but knowing it was an important day for the Black/African American people who live here.  i only learned its true significance a few years ago.  sheltered white girl here who wasn't taught much of anything that had true meaning for the souls of people.

Any forum member who celebrates this day because of their own background, i acknowledge that you not only have c-ptsd to contend with but generational trauma as well.  as much as is possible, my heart is with you.  i just hope i'm not being offensive or disrespectful in any way.  love and hugs, san.

I agree, and would like to also recognize the importance of this day.  I think part of the reason I think it's a big deal is how this wasn't taught.  This WAS such an important day when it happened, and it's taken so long for it to be recognized properly.
