🌈✨ I WON FIRST PLACE IN A COMPETITION FOR THE FIRST TIME! ✨🌈

Hey everyone! I'm beyond excited (and honestly still a little in shock!) to share that I just won first place in a competition run by an environmental political party here in Indonesia. The contest was focused on raising awareness and building solidarity with marginalized communities, and they included topics about the LGBTQ+ community, religious freedom, and social justice. I submitted two short essays sharing my personal experiences and struggles as an LGBTQI+, AFAB, ex-Muslim, atheist, and leftist person in Indonesia.

It feels incredibly validating because, for so long, I felt like my voice didn't matter or that my experiences would just be ignored. But they reached out to me, saying my essays were inspirational and moving and that they're encouraging me to keep creating. 🥹🩷 This was so unexpected, and I feel like it's the first time my voice has been recognized like this!

The competition originally promised "hundreds of dollars" in prize money, but I ended up receiving $50. It's not quite what I'd hoped, but it's still something, and I'm grateful. Along with the cash, I'll also be getting some party merchandise, like T-shirts, tote bags, and notebooks. Initially i plan to use the prize to buy a few necessities—especially some new pants since mine are all worn out and have holes. I'll also be able to get a large bucket for washing my clothes since I'm not allowed to use the washing machine at home.

On top of that, my birthday is coming up in six days! I'm hoping to save a bit of this money to go out on my birthday to just escape and enjoy some time away from home. I'd also like to set a little aside for Christmas next month, so I can treat myself to something nice.

But now with that little amout  of money i am not sure 030

Winning this means the world to me, especially because it's the first time I've won a competition! There have been so many days where I felt like a loser, especially today when things felt heavy. This win is proof to me that even when things feel impossible, there's still room for my voice and my story to make a difference. Btw i sent two essays to them for the highest chance of winning! And they will put both of my essays into their book and publish it to raise awareness for marginalized, lgbt and minorities struggles!
