Hi Everyone, I'm new here! I came here after listening (because who has time to read,) to the book "Mother Hunger" by Kelly McDaniel and found the forum so I thought I would join to see if it might be helpful in my CPTSD recovery. I suffered emotional and physical neglect as a child due to being raised by a young single mom. I've been in talk therapy for about 25 years and recently (within the last 6-8 months) started trauma-informed therapy. That seems to be helping and I'm making progress, but it also feels like the beginning of a new but arduous path for me. I'm hopeful but also feel a bit daunted. Hope to have some helpful conversations here!

Welcome to the forum!  I've just started here recently myself but I hope we can help you find some comfort and empathy through your journey.

Thank you, it's good to be here! I read your intro post and see you've read Pete Walker's book. I'm on a bit of a self-help book tear and have just finished my first go-round with that one. Hope you find it helpful. It's the one everyone seems to recommend!

Hi Mary,

Welcome to the forum!  I've been a member for 18 months. I'm finding friendship in some of the kindest and most compassionate people I've ever met. I'm 62. Been in therapy since 1990. Therapy used to be more about telling me how I should think, so the first 15 years didn't help a bit. But 18 years ago, I found a DBT therapist, what I would call a Trauma therapist. I've been learning good stuff ever since. I've read Pete Walker's book, and a few others.

If I have a favorite section of this forum, it's filed under Treatment & Self Help, called Recovery Journals. That's where most of us are really baring it all. That's where I spend most of my time these days.

Welcome, welcome, welcome.

Thank you so much - I'll check it out!
