I know.  Try some pleasant imagery just before bed.  Try not to delay sleep, it has to happen anyway.  Also, you can try some soft music, sleep on the couch, nice aroma.  These days when I lay in bed and I am afraid to sleep I do imagery.  This way I am at least thinking about that.

its horrible I know, yes Dee is right, nice soft music, nice aromas etc. Sometimes keeping a journal by the side of my bed helps. I Just write down my fears about going to sleep and having those awful nightmares. It kind of gets the anxiety out there rather than in my head. Help you manage to get the rest and peace you deserve

Thanks, Dee and Lozzy

I listened to music until I got tired enough to sleep, but I still had a rough night just out of fear that I'd have that dream again. I've never had it two nights in a row, but it's just so awful. The unpredictability is part of its awfulness. There's never any single trigger for it as far as I can tell, so it always catches me off guard.
