New Year greetings and hello to everyone,

I hope to find support and acceptance here from the community.

I don't have an official diagnosis of cPTSD as in my country ICD 11 is still not accepted.
Also I had a few episodes of psychosis, so they gave me another diagnosis (though I don't agree with it, as it doesn't take into account the trauma since early childhood).

Adult years of my life have been also marked by trauma not only from the family of origin, but due to compulsion to repeat trauma and probably boundary issues etc.

Still I hope to find some light here on this board, some people with similar experiences,

Glad to meet you

Hi Teddy bear, I don't have an official diagnosis of Cptsd either. I think very few people around the globe have that, due to lack of awareness mostly. I'm sorry to hear about your trauma experiences. I find this Forum very supportive and I think you will find acceptance and understanding, along with a lot of information and experience.

Welcome here and happy new year Teddy bear!  :heythere:
I presume most people here don't have an official CPTSD diagnosis either, since it's not in the DSM. Kizzie [the founder of this forum] and a lot of others published a Guide for Healthcare Professionals to bridge this gap between our experience and what they know about CPTSD. People who don't suffer from CPTSD usually don't end up posting on this forum. Don't worry about it. You're welcome here, and you can find a lot of recognition and support here.

Thank you very much, Chart and SenseOrgan

Hello, and welcome, Teddy bear. I don't have an official diagnosis either and I don't care to get one although it would be possible here. My experience in any case makes me feel the diagnostic criteria are too rigid to be particularly helpful. Of course criteria are needed but my experiences are so subjective and change day to day, so the time of any diagnostic process would have a big impact on the conclusion reached.

I'm glad you found us and look forward to getting to know you a little more as you find your way around the forum.

Hi Teddy Bear and a warm welcome to Out of the Storm  :heythere:

From what I've read CPTSD and psychosis often overlap (e.g., https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11496218/) although it's likely not all healthcare professionals know this. There is a tendency to discount childhood trauma, as though we should have just gotten over it, not realizing it's lasting impact.

I hope you're able to find a therapist who does understand this as it goes a long way to have validation and focused treatment.

Thanks NarcKiddo and Kizzie,

Unfortunately in my country of origin and current residence is almost impossible to find a such specialist.

So I am looking online now (as noted in my another post re psychosis). Any recommendations are very welcome
