I wrote the first poem yesterday and the second one today, they speak to the bind I'm in.
With starting to understand my CPTSD the thought of going back to work at 60 feels awful, and at this stage of my life, wanting to discover and heal that inner child.

Knackered Workhorse

Not ready to be put out to pasture.

Not because I feel like
I have something left to give.

Not because my identity
is attached to my title.

Not because I fear
the loss of social connection.

Not because I'll lose
my sense of purpose.

Not because I'll miss
the structure and routine.

Not because it provides me
with mental stimulation.

Not because I fear
I'll become irrelevant.

Simply because
I can't afford the 🤬 Hay!

Find Your Play

It's your time, little boy,
for endless hugs and kisses,
whispered secrets,
being silly,
climbing trees,
splashing in ponds,
getting dirty,
catching snakes,
getting bit,
playing in worlds of fantasy.

And when you shout out,
"Look at me,"
you'll be seen, held safe, and heard.

It's your time
to find your play,
my little boy inside.

Apologies! I used an expressive swearword in my poem. I've since changed it with an emoji

Beautiful poems RJ  :) I like the humour in the first one and the second one really speaks to my inner child with her desire to be seen and heard.  :)
