Self interest ,selfishness

Hello ; I was not allowed to have a personal life, anything that I did that did not ,serve my so-called mother , she labeled as selfish, I was there to sacrifice myself to her, and never be self interested , it took me a long time to sort out the difference between self interest and selfishness, when I thought about it my so-called mother was selfish, she used me to meet her needs, and never gave a thought to me or my needs  on the other hand self interest, does not use other people to meet needs, self interest is about taking care of yourself. Selfishness is believing that other people are to serve you, self interest, is serving yourself .
