This song helps me tremendously when I am in pain. It is a Christian song, but there isn't direct mention of God. So it can be listened to as someone comforting another.

This one too. About learning to love again after being wounded.

There's a beautiful song in my language. Very sad. About childhood trauma. But sometimes sadness helps. I translated it.

Who took the sun out of your face?
Who put out the light in you?
Who made your red cheeks pale?
Who chased the dreams out of your mind?
Who broke your little heart?
Coloured your eyes black?

Who did not keep his promise?
Who smothered the laughter in your throat?
Who clenched your fists?
Who murdered this carefree child?
That always stands up when it falls?
Who bent your straight back?
Who crushed your toys underneath their foot?
Who broke your wings in the joy of their flight?
Who passed you by?
Who betrays your faith?
Who stayed deaf even after
The third time the roaster crowed

Who is it that forgot
That you had the future
Who loved you too little? Just like me?
Who loved you too little? Just like me?

Well if that doesn't capture abuse I don't know what does. It really is sad to see the words, but it also makes me angry If I'm being honest (and that's what I think it should make people feel). So many of us were abused as kids and IMO people still look away because they can't or won't wrap their minds and hearts around the idea of child abuse. Sometimes I want to yell "It happens all the time, it really does and looking away just lets it continue!"

Yes it is a song that makes sad and angry. Yet it is one that I think should be heard. And sometimes it helps me to have words for what I saw. In myself and loved ones.
