Hi, all. I'm a 48-year-old gay white man with C-PTSD. I've been in therapy for over 11 years and do daily yoga and meditation as well as weekly talk therapy.

But I'm looking for greater identification with others who really grasp the particulars of surviving--and ideally thriving--with PTSD.

My interests include reading, especially sci-fi and fantasy, travel, and cooking.

Hi
Glad you are here, plenty of experienced cptsd grapplers on here, I found discussing the symptoms I was troubled by helpful as so many are in the same place.

Well done for posting and welcome.

Welcome on here  :heythere: Glad you found us. I'm sure you'll identify with a lot on here. Most of us seem to.

keep checking out the place - lots of sharing of both experiences and healing/recovery.  we'll get there together.

Thanks, all. I'm encouraged by your words of welcome and by the various posts I've seen on the forum so far.

Hi Randal
Welcome
I am a 44yr old gay women and have been on the forum for some time now .. I find it a really safe and supportive place to come and also to support others .
Great to hear you do daily yoga and meditation. I do daily meditation but yoga I am less motivated to do even though I love it ... so there is some self sabatage / fear going on there ?
I was diagnosed at the beginning of the year with cptsd after again coming off anti dep and becoming really unwell .. it's been a long journey. I feel really well at the moment and I would say I am thriving . Also I've started long term trauma therapy which is so helpful. I'm not having many triggers / disassociation lately and am so relieved by that .. my therapist is teaching me some good grounding techniques . I'm slowly making more friends again and feel like I have my control in life back.

Thanks, Boatsetsailrose.

Yeah, exercise and physical activity can be tricky. Occasionally it brings up body memories for me. But I had been sleeping so poorly and was being triggered so often for a while that I just had to make yoga a daily practice. It's made a real difference.

It's great to hear about your progress. That's definitely something to be celebrated!
