Newbie and so pleased to find a "home"

Hello, new person on the forum.  So glad to find a place to put down the load for a while.  I see Pete Walker's book is popular here and it has led me to define the left-over feelings that were created in my FOO.  The main cause a mother with NPD, a father highly emotional and explosive.  But it doesn't end when you walk out the door and have your own life I now know.   
Thanks for being here and to the volunteers who make it happen.  I look forward to reading the stories.

Indeed, it was/is incredible to find a space in which one is allowed to express who they are and how they feel, even if it's only via online messages. Albeit for some that it is online may even be better as our social skills are shot anyway. Sometimes it's hard to express the dark side--words can be misconstrued; but it's a vulnerability risk that goes with the territory, I guess.

So just to know there's another option available to unload a bit of one's own emotional baggage while learning that others have also traveled this road is very enabling while seeking to repair the damage. And maybe even turn a corner into a world of enormous and 'at-long-last' beauty out of all this pain.

Thanks, Ren, and thanks for the book recommendation. I've read lots of these and it's always nice to come across someone who seems able to cut to the core of what really went on back there. And to find strength to, once and for all, leave it back there.

Hi and a very warm welcome to OOTS Ren     Always so glad when new members talk about that excitement of knowing they aren't alone in that storm that is CPTSD any more.  It can be a really frightening experience to struggle on your own with the disorder, so learning that many others share common symptoms can be such a relief.
