Dona

Good afternoon,
I'm excited to be here. I was introduced to this group by a life long friend and fellow CPTSD survivor.
I'm a wife and mother to two grown boys, have two English Springer Spaniels who make me laugh everyday and I work from home as a seamstress. I love my job!

I am one of five children from the same parents and have two half sibling from my fathers second marriage and one (deceased) sister from my mothers second marriage.

My parents were sixteen and 17 years old when the oldest of us was born. Both parents suffered the effects of arrested development and we children suffered the consequences.

During my childhood I experienced physical abuse, emotional abuse and neglect as well as several instances of sexual assault and abuse. I have had extensive therapy and feel pretty darn good most of the time. Occasionally, I feel the need for a "tune-up" and seek short term therapy when necessary.

I find that connecting with others who have experienced similar issues is hugely validating and helpful to me.

I'm happy to be here!

Welcome. I'm glad you have joined. It's very encouraging to read that your therapy has been helpful and that now you just have therapy from time to time for a 'tune-up'.

Hi Dona and a warm welcome to Out of the Storm!  :heythere:

It really is quite nice to connect with others here who understand what you've gone through and/or what you're dealing with in the present. So many of us isolated ourselves and did not have the relationships non-survivors have so when we find a community like this it can be a great feeling.  I hope you do find connection and support here  :grouphug:
