Also, understand that art is subjective. There is no such thing as bad art so long as you express yourself.
If you're like me, you have trouble expressing your thoughts in conversation (especially pain, I was never allowed to show that I hurt).
I also find getting everything out is highly therapeutic. Even if no one reads/sees your art - it helps organize your thoughts so you can explain things better the next time you have to put them to words.
