Hi. I am new to this board. This is my first attempt at publicly addressing my cptsd.
I am fortunate in that I do have a great support system - family, friends and an amazing therapist that I have seen for more than 5 years - religiously, every two weeks. I am finally accepting that I have PTSD and am seeking EMDR treatment as well as other alternative methods.
Why my cptsd? I was married to a narcissist for 7 years - in a relationship for 10 years. I have been divorced for almost 2 years now after a high conflict divorce (of course - is there any other kind with a NPD?). I have a 7 year old daughter which we share 50/50 custody. And this, I think, is one of the reasons I cannot seem to move beyond my cptsd. Because I have to interact with him on, if not daily, at least weekly basis. Plus, I have to witness my daughter get molded and be subjected to his abuse - which is a trigger all in its own. I call it my ghost marriage. While I limit contact and no longer live with him, he still reaches into my home.
Which is why I am here - to start to tell my story to others in a public, albeit anonymous, forum.
Thanks.
