Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum and was looking to see what works for people outside of therapy. I had been in therapy for a while but it got too expensive and I had to stop. Now that it is about 2 months later, I can really see the difference - I'm looking for ways to keep up the therapeutic benefits without the high cost. Help! I'm starting to feel like I'm going insane.
Hi jcat! Welcome and thanks for joining.
Do you think things like books and videos can get you thru till you can get back in to a therapist?
Lots of us here have the book "CPTSD: From Surviving To Thriving" by Pete Walker and keep it for quick referencing. He also has a website, http://pete-walker.com
Personally my favorite book so far is "The Body Keeps The Score" by Bessel Van Der Kolk.
Lots of stuff on youtube and elsewhere, I'm sure others will have more ideas. Glad you're here!
hey, jcat, glad you're here as well.
besides all that 3 roses suggested, i've found regular communication with the people on this forum have gotten me thru the time without a therapist. there is a lot of great insight here, a lot of wonderful tips, and even tools that members have started to keep us going in a positive direction. to say nothing of the support, kindness, validation, and caring from people who can see what we can't always see at the time.
i hope you keep posting and give yourself a chance in this community. here's a  to start you off, if it helps.
