Title: New here, need advice for my CPTSD bf
Post by: JL849316 on July 29, 2016, 01:33:35 PM
Hello,

I have recently been posting on the sister site Out of the Fog. My BF has PTSD, but I also strongly believe he has a personality disorder. This is the first time I'm hearing about complex PTSD (which goes to show how much help his past therapists have been to me...).

Maybe I'm wrong and he doesn't have a PD, just more symptoms than come along with CPTSD. Hoping to get some insight into how he thinks and if some of his more complex symptoms are because of the CPTSD or a PD.

I do know that he has shown tremendous improvement over the past year, and because I am pregnant I have no plans of leaving him unless I absolutely have to.

Thanks for the welcome,

JL

Hello and welcome :)

CPTSD is relatively new and there is much disagreement and ignorance surrounding it as yet. It has yet to make it into the DSM. Kizzie, the admin here, found this useful printout to take to your healthcare professional: http://www.blueknot.org.au/Portals/2/Fact%20Sheets%20Info/Fact%20Sheet_Health%20Practitioners.pdf

In any case, we welcome you and hope to see more posts from you in the future.  :)
