Title: Sunflower Lanyard Scheme
Post by: Desert Flower on August 23, 2024, 11:05:39 AM
Again, I'm not sure where to put this. But I didn't find any reference to this scheme on the forum, so I thought it might be helpful to mention here.

So there's this scheme called: 'Hidden disabilities - Sunflower Lanyard Scheme' that started in the UK I think. For some, it might not be appropriate to call our condition a '(hidden) disability', I do realise.
But for me, it has been very helpful to acknowledge I do have this condition, it can sometimes be debilitating and there's help available. Especially when air travelling, I've used this lanyard and when I dissociated/ got blocked as I call it, some employee/official would come to me and ask if I needed help. And that made me relax just enough to be able to do this traveling by myself. It's free and optional, you can just take the lanyard off when you don't feel you need it.

I appreciate you sharing this.  I've seen it shared on social media before and it's helpful to me to hear your experience.

Thank you Desert Flower,

I've never seen it before. It's great that you are recognized when traveling and get the help you need. This is a winner! I'm gonna use it myself.

Thanks for sharing this. Not sure if I'd ever wear one myself but have passed it on to some folks I know who might.

Regards,
Aphotic.

I just wanted to add this conversation that the sunflower organisation had with a fellow CPTSD survivor, I found it helpful, maybe you will too:
