Title: Support while in an EF
Post by: rainydiary on August 16, 2022, 05:56:39 PM
I'm curious for any thoughts or reactions -

When you are in an EF or in flight, fight mode, do you prefer for others to be around or to be left alone?

Hi Rainydiary,

When I'm in EF mode I absolutely isolate myself from everyone. I've left work before because I felt attacked. I used to take long drives alone. Now I just hide myself in my house, close all curtains, and turn music up so I can't hear the outside world. I don't answer the phone or the door.

Speaking for myself, the sad thing is that when I'm in EF mode, that would be the perfect time to reach out and find a friend to help take me out of EF mode. But that's not what I do. I hide until the EF ends.

Like Papa Coco I also isolate I can't even speak to my husband about what is happening  But I suspect it depends on your particular history.

PC and Armee, I appreciate these perspectives.

I ask because one of the trainings I did to prepare for work was how to respond to a student experiencing what I interpreted to be a flight or fight moment.

I'm not sure if I filtered the advice through my wounds but it left me feeling off.
