The Alberta Family Wellness Initiative (AFWI) (https://www.albertafamilywellness.org/who-we-are) facilitates research into early brain development as well as addiction and mental health treatment, and applies this research to policies and practices that support positive lifelong health outcomes. We connect and collaborate with leaders in policy, research, education, and service delivery to turn scientific discoveries and insights into measurable results...(in Alberta and in communities across the world).

The Alberta Family Wellness Initiative (AFWI) supports the translation of scientific knowledge into forms that are easy for non-scientists to understand. It disseminates this information in a number of ways: at events, through resources, tools, and curricula, and across a range of media. The process of making scientific information broadly accessible is called knowledge mobilization, and its goal is to shift conversations, catalyze change, and support strong brain architecture and good mental health for children and families.

The AFWI offers a free online course for professionals and the public about the brain here (https://www.albertafamilywellness.org/training).
