Lowell had a history of childhood trauma - with severe binge eating, severe drug addiction problems, that was too much for his physcial body which passed at 34yrs old. He over-ate and drank, and drugged alone.
Despite this, he was a magical musican, drawing in Emmy Lou Harris, and Bonnie Raitt as his backing vocalists at the same time.
He reminds me that we are traumatised, and beautiful people, and our experiences and symptoms do not make us ugly or bad.
I am still beautiful depite my distress.

Great song! I find myself humming or singing this song sometimes, just out of the blue. He was one of my favorites.
