Hi! I've recently divorced my uOCPDh and have been a follower of the sister site Out of the Fog. I've suffered PTSD since I was a child after witnessing my father's murder.

PTSD has been misdiagnosed throughout the years under everything under the sun; however this diagnosis has held strong for more than 10 years after finding a competent therapist.

My first marriage ended after I found out my husband was having an affair with a good friend - loads of gaslighting before the truth came out. This triggered a severe PTSD reaction. I married my grade school friend a couple of years later and was so in love. As his alcohol abuse increased, so did his emotional and psychological abuse of me. He was diagnosed with OCPD during our marriage and it got worse as the years went on.

Here I am, divorced twice, mother of two wonderful kids, great job. I am learning to live alone and breathe through through the "triggers" but I feel very much alone in my pain.

Thank you for listening.

Welcome, hellobliss123! One of the most helpful things, to me, about this forum is the feeling I get from knowing that there are others who can relate to what I say, how I feel, what my symptoms are, etc., and give me valuable insight and emotional support without any of the messages I get from the general populace (just get over it, count your blessings, blah blah  :blahblahblah:).

I'm sorry to hear about all you've been through. I would like to point out that complex ptsd differs from ptsd, and has different symptoms and should be treated differently. Here's some info on the differences; https://barendspsychology.com/complex-ptsd/?fdx_switcher=true

I hope you find lots of support, information and connection here, as many of us have. Thanks for joining!

Hello and a warm welcome to OOTS HelloBliss  :heythere:

Like most of us here you certainly are a survivor  To have two great kids and a good job despite the turmoil and trauma you have had to deal with is great to hear, those are the things in life that can anchor us when we are triggered.

There is some additional info about the differences between the two Complex PTSD and 'Simple' PTSD here http://www.outofthestorm.website/symptoms/.  There are also some information sheets and a symptom tracking form under "Resources" that you may find useful. (See http://www.outofthestorm.website/downloads/).

Glad you made your way here, I hope the support and info helpful.

Thank you Kizzie and Three Roses! I need to confirm with my therapist, but I believe I had symptoms of PTSD after the initial trauma and then the years of abuse led to C-PTSD. Either way, I am happy to be here and thank you for the welcome.
