We have just added a section for journals that is private meaning only those I give permission to can see and post in the group. The reason for this section is that some members are afraid of or are being stalked by their abuser(s), family, etc. The public journals are not as safe in the sense that an accumulation of information can lead a determined person to recognize someone they are trying to find. As such, we have this private section. It is also for members who would feel more comfortable having their journals be more private.
In order to be given permission to join the private section you must have made an introductory post and at least 5 other posts on the forum. This allows me to get a sense of who you are and if it is safe to let you into that section. If you are allowed to join the section and give members reason to feel you are unsafe your access will be taken away.
Please post your request to join the group below. It may take a few days for access to be granted/denied as I will review your forum posts.

Good question DD. :thumbup: It's not just for that, it's also for members who want their journals to be private. I've added a sentence about that in the first post in this thread so members are aware.

Saluki - I've added you as well. The other journals can be seen by anyone who reads posts at the forum (they don't have to be a member which is why the forum is considered public). This can be a problem for members who have someone trying to find them because the info in the journals tends to accumulate and it's easier to identify someone there than when their posts are spread about the forum.

So..... The standard recovery journals at [Out of the Storm] > [Treatment & Self-Help] > [Self-Help& Recovery] > [Recovery Journals] are public? And if I want privacy, I have to ask to go one more level into a second level of recovery journals?

Anyone can read the posts at OOTS Papa, it is meant to be that way so that we educate other survivors and professionals. The anonymity comes from using a pseudonym and not giving details such as where you live if you want to protect your anonymity.
The new journal section is private because some members were uncomfortable having their journals read by anyone. They felt more comfortable writing where only other members of the group could read.

Scroll down the index page /main page/first page of forum when you log in. Way at the bottom below the blue bar for Community Corner with Cafe and Creativity, you'll see a blue bar with Private Groups. Underneath that you should be able to see Member Journals. Click on that.
