Sleep Issues / Re: Feeling fear on waking
February 11, 2021, 05:31:24 PM
Thanks for the replies everyone -

I'm not working now, so it's unrelated to work anxiety from the day. It must be some kind of EF being triggered, maybe from unpleasant internet interactions that I'm having. I think the person who said that I'm probably ready to address these fears is correct since I'm conscious of them now. It's just knowing how to process the feelings when I'm half asleep is very difficult!  :Idunno:

Sleep Issues / Feeling fear on waking
February 05, 2021, 05:30:42 PM
Do any of you experience this? On waking sometimes, I can just feel a miasma of fear in me. Fear, anxiety and dread. It happened this morning . I remember my dream. It wasn't a nightmare, but I could feel the fear then as well.

I imagine this is the CPTSD related to my unreleased pain from trauma. Anyone have tips on how to handle it? Maybe find a way to release it?

Therapy / Starting EMDR during COVID?
January 30, 2021, 08:54:05 AM
Hi,

I'm starting to look into EMDR and (thanks to the link to the EMDR institute in another posts), am coming up with a list of therapists to contact. However, I already contacted several in my area from going through the directory on Psychology Today and received no response, except for one, who recommended a couple of other places because they're closed during COVID.

I imagine this would be the case for most practitioners and was wondering if anyone had any advice on how I should proceed? Should I wait until offices are opened again before contacting EMDR therapists? My regular therapist seems to think I should start sooner rather than later.

(BTW, I'm in the Orange Country area and if anyone has someone to recommend, I'd really appreciate that.)

Please Introduce Yourself Here / Hi - new here
January 29, 2021, 09:35:39 PM
Hi,

I'm new here and am looking forward to reading through some of these posts, getting to know some of you, and look for help & guidance in an effort to resolve my CPTSD. I'm female, in my forties and have been diagnosed with CPTSD arising from childhood neglect and abuse. I grew up in a household with a bunch of narcissists and grew up in the fog of war, as they call it. I've been slowly unraveling the layers of abuse, gaslighting and manipulation that have affected my development, in an effort to fill the one gap in my life that I am missing - building a family of my own. So, please help! Except if you're a troll! Then go away!
