Please Introduce Yourself Here / Re: Here It Goes...

Thanks so much for the warm welcome, everyone! I still need to learn my way around message boards that I actually know when there is a reply.... I also wish I could figure out how to reply to each response, or at the very least a "heart" button :)

Looking forward to getting to know you all on our journeys to healing! <3

Hello and welcome!
I'm new as well and totally relate to the experience feeling foreign. I have never joined message boards before either, but do like the format. I feel it allows a little more time to think or express than other forms of social media. I hope that being here will help you on your journey to healing and I look forward to healing with you here too! :)

Welcome! :)

I, too, am new and much of what you said is very relatable. The brain fog can be quite the obstacle. I hope it lifts for you soon! I'll look forward to seeing you around the boards.

Please Introduce Yourself Here / Here It Goes...

Hello, Everyone!
I keep writing, overthinking, and rewriting an intro.... but I've decided to just wing it, so here it goes:

I was diagnosed with having C-PTSD (due to several forms of abuse from both parents, other relatives, and then re-enacting a lot of trauma through many relationships) almost 15 years ago. I have made very little progress on really working on my trauma factor due to also living with mental illness and those diagnoses getting more of the spotlight. I'm realizing more and more that the trauma is the part that really should have gotten the spotlight and this year I have decided to become a lot more proactive in terms of healing. I don't really have any support in my life and am very isolated, but I came across this website while trying to design a self-help plan. Reading through some of the posts I could see a lot of myself in the experiences many of you have been brave enough to share and it felt like a community I would like to be a part of, both to support and be supported. So, thank you for what you have shared. I look forward to getting to know you all and healing together.
